UPDATED JUNE 24th SUMMER BASKETBALL Any player, coach, parent, or fan that gets ejected from a gym by a referee or Town Director, for abusive and/or threatening behavior of any kind, is barred from attending any more games for the summer. Our league follows Mass. Interscholastic Athletic Assn. (MIAA) conduct and sportsmanship rules. Our referees are certified IAABO officials and have total jurisdiction in the gym during and between games. No profanity will be tolerated. No taunting of other players, coaches, or fans will be tolerated. Teams are required to have distinct numbered jerseys so the referees and players can distinguish between the 2 opposing teams during the game 1. Games will be played with 14 minute stop time halves. 2. 3 time outs allowed per game that can be used anytime, 1 additional time out per overtime. 4 timeouts for the playoffs (One 30 second timeout added) 3. Overtime will be 2 minutes long. 4. Players will shoot one and one on the opposing team's 7th foul and 2 foul shots after the opposing team's tenth foul each half. 5. Players will foul out of the game on the fifth personal foul. Technical fouls count as personal fouls. 6. 3 point shots are allowed for all grade levels. 7. Both teams must provide volunteers for time keeping and scoring. 8. Pressing will not be allowed with a 20 point lead under any circumstances. For entering 6th grade divisions, there is no pressing until the last 3 minutes of each half and for entering 5th Grade there is no pressing 9. One or two officials, patch preferred, will be provided for each game. 10. Both coaches should e-mail doug@easternhoopleague.com the game scores so the web site can be updated promptly or give result to the on-site gym monitor 11. Coaches are responsible for controlling their team’s bench, parent and fan behavior during games. 12. If a coach or player is ejected from a game there will be a one game suspension. 13. For the entering 5th division, man-to-man defense is required. No double teaming or zone - help defense is allowed only in the paint! Referee can make judgment calls and has final say on defenses 14. Teams lining up at the free throw line will now start at the second block under the basket Entering 5th and 6th Grade kids are allowed to go over the line when shooting a foul shot. He/she must start BEHIND the line, and can go over in the act of shooting or following through on his/her shot. He/she must wait for the ball to hit the rim before attempting to rebound. Any action seen by the refs as an attempt to gain advantage by abusing this rule will be called a violation. Referee has the final say! |
